Background
When we asked the local take-out restaurant owner if we could design his website we had no prior experience with website design at all. I was young and unsure of my skills everything we did was self-taught such places as youtube and google. Even the photos we took on our camera behind the restaurant. Truthfully making Mazzar Grills website was one of the best decisions of my life I was brought to the world of Design & Art Direction. From that point on I never looked back.
Understanding the client:
The most important part of my journey with Mazzar Grill was to understand the client and their needs. After multiple conversations with the Owner I understood that most of their cliental was 30-60 year olds with families. So a website had to be so simple that anyone can use was ideal. After some earlier ideas I came to the conclusion that the website should be one long page that takes users to exactly what they were looking for.
What happened next?
After a bit of testing from two separate ten person groups I understood what users in that age range wanted something That looked great had good phones and had “text that is big enough to see without my glasses” ESPEICALLY Something that works well for Mobile and does not need to be resized. After understand the UX of the entire site next was the Art Direction!!

Art Direction
When it comes to the Art Direction I had a few ideas and the owner had a few. I chose the colors Orange, Brown & White specifically for the fact that The food that the client made had so much flavor and personality we had to make those the colors. Everything to do with Mazzar Grill stood out and was a bit non traditional to the fact they sell multiple sauces to the idea where they don’t offer rice with every platter Mazzar Grill left older and refined yet young and different. These people really knew their craft and didn’t hold back when making magic in that kitchen. Having those ideas thought out I really wanted Mazzar Grill to feel more serious about their craft as the owner was. A feeling of being older and reliable and filled with culture the idea that “we don’t mess around when it comes to food” I feel as though it came out well.
